Jean Marie Calvet founded the Calvet company in Tain l'Hermitage, where he lived his first years. He began to trade in wine and ended up settling in Bordeaux.
In 1870, Octave Calvet took control of the family business and contributed to the expansion of the company. In 1889 Jean Calvet, the founder's grandson, moved the company to the Burgundy region, specifically to Beaune.
In the 20th century, the company modernized and internationalized, achieving several awards and world fame, and finally joining the Grand Chais du France group.
