Wine pairing of the week: Fresh Salmon with Sauvignon Blanc

Posted on2020-01-26 by 2763

Which wine goes best with grilled salmon?

This week's recommended dish is:

Grilled or steamed salmon with grilled vegetables, paired with a bottle of Matua Sauvignon Blanc, from the Marlborough region which is located on the South Island of New Zealand.

This is a delicious and healthy dish

Fresh salmon has many proteins, fatty acids, Omega 3, vitamins B6, B12, minerals and calcium.

We suggest grilling some fresh vegetables to go with the salmon.

These vegetables go great with this pairing: aubergines, asparagus, courgette or tomatoes.

These are the reasons why we chose this kind of meal to pair with Matua Sauvignon Blanc:

- This dish is served without sauce. Salmon has been grilled or steamed combines perfectly with a young white wine.

- The full bodied taste of the salmon and the acidity from the tomatoes require a wine with sufficient acidity to balance the taste.

- The chosen wine has asparagus, gooseberry, pea, and herbaceous characters with citrus and pineapple flavours. All these aromas combine perfectly with these ingredients.

This is a simple wine pairing that everybody could easily put into practice. It’s also healthy and economical.

We hope you enjoy our food and wine match with somebody special!
